“No One Sleeps at Training Camp ヽ(゚∀゚)ノ”" – 合宿は皆が寝ないヽ(゚∀゚)ノ

Another mizugi episode? Oh it’s the beach episode, so I suppose it was inevitable. Shall we?  So yeah as the previous episode established, the Neighbors’ Club is going to the Kashiwazaki private beach for “training camp”. All beach episodes are a priori fanservice and that is doubly true for harem series. The “who’s swimsuit is sexiest” and “teach me to swim”, “rub sunscreen on me” and etc are givens. But a good show also could use it for character development. Which Haganai sort of does…

But let’s not forget who we’re dealing with, this is the socially-inept club, so as you can imagine… hijinks ensue.

Also during the aforementioned mandatory “sunscreen application” we get some character commentary for Yozora. Namely she applies sunscreen on Sena with her feet, cause she’s just Yozora and likes to abuse people. As you might’ve gathered by now I don’t like Yozora. She’s painted out to be this “misunderstood and vulnerable person”, yet almost every time we see her she can’t help but act like a bitch. Sure I let that off the hook when she did it with Maria, cause… Maria was too easy a target with her bragging nature and incessant attitude. But that still doesn’t change the fact, that Yozora is a high-level bully, who’s only fault you could relate to is that she doesn’t have many friends.

But this did lead to… or rather it was inevitable… Sena Flashing everyone again.

And don’t you dare turn away!

Yeah and I bet the Blu-rays are going to have their own field-trip with that one.

The second part of this episode is about them deciding to have their go at scary stories.

And again, the stories of almost all members fail, with Kodaka’s being exceptionally failtastic. And Yozora’s is the only one that actually works. And everybody gets scared… and thus begins the crusade of Kodaka escorting girls to the bathroom. No really…

But again, I’d like to note the Kodaka x Sena dynamic that’s been going on. They have separate events, semi-dates, house-visits and Sena actually shows concern over whether Kodaka sees her naked. You can see her getting more social to hang out with him. On Kodaka’s side, he’s just pulling his gentlemanly side and sticking out to protect her, saying he didn’t see things that he did see. This relationship sort of work in the whole “friendless people” frame. This triangle clearly favors a certain angle and this might be a rare case where “First girl wins” won’t work in a harem. Just saying. But who am I kidding, it’s harem, so it’ll be vague to the end.

Episode Rating: A.
